Speaking on behalf of the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ola Ibrahim at seminar on Military Law and Development of Commander/Legal Officer Relationship in Abuja, Petinrin expressed determination that the Armed Forces are taking measure to ensure that courts martial enjoy the desired independence during proceedings.

'As a result of these, most of the cases are nullified by the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court in most cases. In line with the transformation agenda of the Armed Forces however, the services are taking pro-active measures to ensure that courts-martial enjoy desired independence and impartiality during proceedings.

'In the unlikely event that Nigeria would engage in inter-state conflicts in the foreseeable future, efforts are now being channelled towards the development of capacities for dealing with evolving challenges. 'It is therefore hoped that at the end of the seminar, participants would be better equipped to address most of the problems within military justice administration in Nigeria today.'
